School canteen: The development of CTOS

0

Following photographs published on social networks showing the plate of an elementary school student with a small amount of food, CTOS was subjected to harsh criticism last Friday on social networks.

In a context of national strike and blocking of the entry of schools by strikers, the quantity of meals to be produced was difficult to predict, last week, and food was thrown away because it was not consumed. However, these difficulties do not explain the insufficient quantity distributed in the refectory of a school in Marigot. A situation deemed unacceptable.

The CTOS has therefore decided that the payment made for school meals for the month of February 2020 will be automatically postponed to the month of March 2020 taking into account the strike movements.

CTOS has retained the services of a dietician who has worked on varied and balanced menus, which appeal to the majority of children enrolled in our schools. It is understood that all the schools delivered by the CTOS benefit from the same meals and the same quantities. The directors of the 11 private schools served by the CTOS can attest to the quality and satisfactory quantities of the meals served each day.

At the start of the year, with the aim of putting an end to this dysfunction in our canteens, the chief cook of the CTOS met with each refectory manager to define the quantities of food to be served in school meals. The dining room managers all responded favorably to this procedure and committed themselves to this fundamental principle. Today, despite this effort, it appears that some staff still do not meet the mandatory quantities and serve insufficient portions to children.

As a result, the dietician will carry out checks in the dining halls each week, to ensure that the children benefit from portions that comply with the regulations in force.

The objective of CTOS at the start of 2020 and as part of the ongoing reorganization is to provide an optimal public service in terms of school meals and extracurricular reception.
