Population census campaign from March 8 to April 12, 2018!

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin informs the population of the launch, from Thursday, March 8, 2018, of the annual population census campaign. This campaign will run over five weeks, until Thursday, April 12, 2018. The census is organized by the community in partnership with the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE).

If you are one of the households selected by INSEE, an agent from the Collectivity will come to your home, between Thursday 08 March and Thursday 12 April 2018. This agent will have undergone prior technical training to be able to help you complete the questionnaires relating to your home and the people who live under your roof. The enumerator will present himself with an official card, he is subject to strict professional secrecy.

The census is a strong act, because it makes it possible to determine the official population of each territory. The precise knowledge of our population makes it possible to adjust public action to the needs of the territory: collective facilities, neighborhood renovation programs, means of transport, etc.

In addition, the census provides statistical information on the age pyramid, the composition of families and the housing stock. Only a part of the population is affected each year by the census, the areas listed being selected by INSEE.

While our island was very strongly impacted by Hurricane Irma, on September 6, 2017, we all the more need these statistics useful for the reconstruction of Saint Martin. For all these reasons, and with a few weeks delay given the circumstances, we ask you to participate in the annual census. The latter is also made mandatory by law, it is above all a civic duty that I ask you to perform.

For more information on the census, you can consult the website www.le-recensus-et-moi.fr, or contact the Census & Addressing service of the Collectivity (Madame Rosette PAROTTE) at 0590 52 27 30 - Pôle de Développement Sustainable - 6 Rue du Fort louis - Marigot.

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin thanks you for your participation in the census of the territory.
