"BillFish Tournament": a new edition full of surprises

The Saint-Martin "BillFish Tournament" will be back in ten days. For this 18th edition, Laurent Petit, director of the tournament, has planned some nice surprises for the participants.

The "Marlin Boulevard" in Marigot will be celebrating from June 2 to 6 to welcome this prestigious fishing tournament, well known to lovers of big fish, supported by around twenty partners. This year, fifteen boats will come from abroad, announces Laurent Petit, president of the association "Saint-Martin Sport Fishing", during the press conference last Wednesday at the Mercure, in Nettle Bay, with his team. The economic benefits for the territory will be significant, estimate the organizers. “The boats will spend more than € 200.000 on petrol over the three days of fishing. This event should bring in between 300.000 and 400.000 € for Saint-Martin ”, specifies the director, adding that the event's budget amounts to 80.000 €. On the fishing side, the objective is always to release the marlins below 400 pounds. "This year, a tool will be given to fishermen to measure the fish and determine whether or not to release them," he said. For this new edition, the “White marlin challenge” prize has been created. The grand winner of the tournament will automatically qualify for the world championships. On the entertainment side, the organizers have once again seen the big picture: several local groups have been invited to electrify the evenings, and the renowned Jamaican group Raging Fyah will perform during the closing concert. Finally, on the last day of the tournament, Métimer and various sponsors will launch a boat show with a wide choice of new and used boats.
