Monday morning, the “Blue Week 2019” was officially opened, with a ceremony which took place at the EHPAD (Accommodation establishment for dependent elderly) Bethany Home. A week, dedicated to retirees and the elderly, which is an opportunity to organize events that create links between generations. But also to make everyone aware of the place and social role that seniors play in our society.
At Bethany Home, this year's action focused on intergenerational strengthening, with in particular the reception of the children of the Mantle of Saint Martin for an activity and a shared snack. Also on the program, welcoming students from the Robert Weinum high school music class who will come to collect the residents' interests in music and songs, in order to offer them a concert at the end of the year.
"The Blue Week only makes sense in a more global approach," says Brigitte Espartero, health executive, who represented management, "it is not a question of occupying a week of the year, but of strengthen these links between generations, in order to develop social ties ”. The animation is a coordinated set of diverse and adapted actions, linked to the experience of the elderly, assures Brigitte Espartero, "it aims to meet the needs and expectations of the elderly for the maintenance or development of their relationship life , social and cultural ”.
For Annick Pétrus, 3rd vice-president of the Collectivity, in charge of the Solidarity and Families Pole, the Blue Week is a special moment, "an opportunity to put our seniors in the spotlight, but also to discuss priorities and the needs of our territory ”. Also, the initiatives that are carried out "throughout the year, with our partners, are part of a dynamic of sharing and solidarity for a real policy of support for our seniors".
The occasion for Annick Pétrus, to greet social workers and health personnel, who work all year round alongside the elderly, "to create links with the younger generations, to discuss with our elders, to promote their knowledge, to listen to their words, that's what seems important to me these days!
