Athletics: Ultramarines in force in Berlin

0

Since yesterday, August 6, the European Athletics Championships have been taking place in Berlin. The French team has 16 athletes from overseas, including 8 from the West Indies.

This year the European Athletics Championships are taking place in Berlin, Germany and we have a delegation in the delegation! The West Indies are particularly well represented since 4 young women and 4 young men are from our beautiful islands. We will not name everyone, we leave it to you to discover the athletes during their performances, but here is still a little overview of our hopes for these championships. First of all, there is Eloyse Lesueur, Guadeloupe and already twice European champion in long jump (2012 and 2014). She is a confirmed athlete and her chances of winning a medal, why not gold, are real. And then there is Renelle Lamote, European vice-champion of the 800m in Amsterdam in 2016, Garfield Darien who has two silver medals in the 110m hurdles, still at the European championships in 2010 and 2012. Both are from Guadeloupe. And to finish our personal selection, there is Aurélie Chaboudez, 25, Martinique. She was a junior Olympic champion in 2012 and was the first French athlete to reach the semi-finals of the 400m hurdles at a world championship. It was in 2015, in Beijing. She will embark on her discipline, the 400m hurdles to win gold. Of course, all our athletes have their chance, they did not stumble there by chance, but these 4 are to be followed very closely… Finally, it is the heart that speaks! _NB
