Association "Les Fruits de Mer": A free Ebook tells stories of animals after Irma

On the occasion of the 5th Festival of Endemic Animals to be held on May 20, the association "Les Fruits de Mer" has published a new ebook. The Animals of Irma's Island is filled with stories of local wildlife after Hurricane Irma. You can download it for free on the group's website.

"The post-Hurricane Irma period was special for people and nature," said author Mark Yokoyama. “There were a lot of trials, but it was amazing to see nature in action. The chapters of this ebook were written between September and December 2017. They show the nature that bounces during this time. "

The ebook was made for this year's Endemic Animal Festival. This event celebrates the animals that are only found on St. Martin or in our region.

"We are delighted to host this year's festival at the Amuseum Naturalis at The Old House," said Jenn Yerkes, President of the Seafood Association. "We are still working on the museum itself, but this beautiful space is the perfect place to learn more about the unique flora and fauna of St. Martin. We will also use the Done Here theme to show how nature connects to other parts of local heritage.

“The Endemic Animals Festival is a public and free event for all ages. Activities include an Endemic Animal Discovery Station, bird watching, and wildlife-themed art activities. Guests will experience Plantilles, a series of native plant and community garden projects at The Old House. Several local experts will explore the Made Here theme regarding local wildlife, heritage and culture.

The 2018 festival will take place on Sunday May 20 from 9 a.m. to noon, and is made possible thanks to the support of our sponsors: Birds Caribbean, Delta Petroleum, Happy Wine, Lieu De Bennes Diligence Express, Lagoonies Bistro and Bar and Tri-Sport.
