National Assembly: the 2016 overseas budget approved

Tuesday evening, the National Assembly approved the budget of the Ministry of Overseas amounting to just over 2 billion euros for 2016.

The largest part of this budget (54%) is that of the exemption from employers' social security contributions for 1,150 billion euros. Among other major points, the Adapted Military Service (SMA) endowed with 57 million euros in order to reach 6.000 young people a year at the end of the five-year period. Finally, assistance was set up (plane ticket), particularly in the event of bereavement in an overseas territory. In addition, overseas deputies welcomed the extension until the end of 2020 of tax exemption for businesses, a measure recently announced by Overseas Minister George Pau-Langevin.
