The public is invited today to come and discover the parish registers of Saint-Martin dating from the XNUMXth century at the Territorial Archives, in Concordia.

A presentation of these documents will take place at 18 p.m. in the research room. Monseigneur Riocreux, bishop of Guadeloupe, decided to return to the Archives eight registers which had been kept by the bishopric of Guadeloupe since 1970. The official restitution also took place during Saint-Martin's Day. These documents record the acts of baptisms, marriages and burials. "For conservation reasons, and, given their advanced state of deterioration, they were then transferred to the bishopric of Guadeloupe which offered, at that time, better conditions of conservation", according to the Archives. _EH
