The latest epidemiological bulletin from the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS) shows that infections with dengue viruses are “sporadic”. As for chikungunya, the weekly number of consultations remains at its lowest level in the last five months.

Regarding dengue, the weekly number of doctor visits, between October and mid-November, remained “far below the maximum values expected for the season”. The InVS notes that the dengue virus infection has been biologically confirmed in two patients. For chikungunya, two patients would have consulted a general practitioner during the same period. No laboratory confirmation of recent infection has been recorded. In Saint-Barthélemy, particular vigilance should be maintained in order to detect a possible epidemic start of dengue, specifies the institute. The circulation of the chikungunya virus is very weak.

Point in the Antilles
