Brown algae: towards a possible influx

As we announced to you last week, Sargassum is once again talking about it. These unwanted algae are increasingly present on certain beaches in Guadeloupe. In the coming weeks, the brown algae could also invite itself on our island, alerted the St. Maarten Nature Foundation. “We have coordinated our monitoring efforts with our partners in the region and, based on weather forecasts and aerial surveys, there is a significant amount of algae around,” said Tadzio Bervoets, director of the foundation. The different partners are working together to find an effective way to remove algae in the event of a large arrival.
