Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes Airport crossed the 2 million passenger mark in 2017 last month, thanks to a 2,4% increase in traffic compared to November 2016.

In November 2017, traffic at Pointe-à-Pitre-Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes airport increased by 2,4% with 157.813 passengers received, 3770 more passengers than in November 2016. This traffic growth is particularly affected by the North America (+ 61,5%) and hexagonal France (+ 5,7%) beams. Exchanges with the United States represent 9% of the total volume of passengers, thanks to the flights operated for the winter season on New York, Providence, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta.

On the regional network, traffic to St Martin Grand-Case and St-Barth posted an increase of 5,3%, linked to the rescheduling of flights via PTP to these destinations. On the other hand, the Fort de France / Cayenne network fell by 14,6%, penalized by the Fort de France axis (-17,0%) as a result of the end of the “Simply the Best” offer.

Likewise, the destinations in the Caribbean zone are down (-18,8%) compared to last year, notably Dominica (-1000 passengers) following the climatic events which have hard hit this island.

Finally, air freight posted double-digit growth with 897 tonnes processed, or 24,4%.

Keep in mind that at the end of the year (including transit), the 2 million passenger mark was largely crossed with 2.146.190 passengers welcomed at Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes, an increase of 5,3% since January. The trend is the same for air freight, which posted + 12,8% at the end of November.

With 2.253.284 passengers welcomed in 2016, the airport ranks 1st among French overseas departments, 9th among Caribbean airports and 10th among French airports. It is served in particular by the airlines Air Antilles Express, Air Canada, Air Caraïbes, Air France, American Airlines, Corsair International, Norwegian, Cubana de Aviacion and XL Airways. Its network has 27 destinations, including 22 regular destinations, divided between Hexagonal France, Europe, North America, South America and the Caribbean.
