JULIANA AIRPORT: The new departures hall will be ready in 2023

The high tourist season has just started in Sint Maarten/Saint-Martin. Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIAE) is forecasting volumes of over 7 travelers per day during the season through March 000.

Recently, Juliana Airport management has been working hard on the action plan for the season which focuses on improving processes at the airport and the number of passengers and flights that can be handled.

In addition, reconstruction work continues at the terminal. According to the new planning, the departures hall will be fully operational before the 2023 high season and the new terminal will be completed by April 2024.

In the meantime, Juliana Airport management asks visitors to be aware of noise and obstructions during the construction period. Although most of the work is being done inside the building, visitors will be able to see some work in progress outside the airport.

Princess Juliana International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the northeast Caribbean. It is the most important airport hub for Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Barts, Anguilla, Dominica, Nevis and Tortola.

The airport is one of the largest employers on the island. It has 1927 workers in the entire airport community.

In 2022, Sint Maarten airport expects to handle 1,2 million passengers and 54 aircraft movements. The reconstruction works of the airport started in September 000. In 2021, the Departures Hall will be ready. According to the latest forecasts, the new terminal will be completed in the summer of 2023. _AF
