Juliana Airport: Start of decontamination work before reconstruction of the terminal scheduled for May 2021

The mold decontamination and waste disposal work in the old check-in hall at Juliana Airport began on Monday, November 16.

This preliminary work is expected to be completed in April 2021, followed by the reconstruction of the terminal.

The work includes the dismantling of the interior of the building and the elimination of all contaminated materials that are no longer reusable.

To ensure the safety of all workers, airport staff and the airport community, Damien Schmidt, coordinator of the PJIAE (Princess Juliana International Airport) project, will organize a training session on COVID-19 health measures and procedures security to be observed during the construction of the airport.

The coming year 2021 is important for PJIAE with the award of the terminal reconstruction contract, the start of construction being scheduled for May 2021. _AF
