The effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on long-haul traffic have turned the world ranking of the most important airlines upside down and the Paris / Orly Pointe-à-Pitre now ranks 4th with nearly 139 seats on offer in January.

The consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and health constraints have completely upset the world ranking of the most important airlines in terms of the number of seats offered by airlines. According to statistics provided by the Official Airline Guide, the line connecting Paris / Orly to Pointe-à-Pitre has climbed to the 4th  world place in January with nearly 139 seats on offer, not far from Dubai-London / Heathrow (000 seats), Cairo-Jeddah (190) and Orlando-San Juan (365). And the Paris / Orly Pointe-à-Pitre line will advance further in the ranking in February because the containment measures decided by the United Kingdom will not fail to reduce the seat capacity between Dubai and London / Heathrow.

Air Caraïbes and French Bee well placed

Air France and French Bee, the flagships of the Dubreuil group, are well placed to take advantage of this situation, favored by a sanitary situation under control in the West Indies. It is therefore not surprising that they have decided to strengthen the heart of their network (Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Cayenne) and to relaunch two new destinations: Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and Port-au-Prince ( Haiti).

Air France and Corsair also want to take advantage

In view of these prospects, it is not surprising that Air France has decided to significantly strengthen its overseas service for its 2021 summer program. The airline will strengthen this service thanks to the development of departing lines from Roissy CDG and will offer up to 56 flights per week this summer between the Antilles, Guyana and Réunion and the two Paris airports. Similarly, Corsair better refocus its network on Overseas France, thanks to its recent change of shareholders. Since December 16, it has also ramped up with a daily flight to Martinique. Guadeloupe has been served with 8 flights per week since December 19, with two flights on Saturdays (Source Air & Cosmos)
