On December 27, 2020 around 6:50 a.m., DR, 32, was riding a motorcycle. He is wheeling – on the rear wheel – when he hits a wall violently.

In a coma, he was evacuated to Guadeloupe and then transferred to mainland France to be operated on for the first time. He underwent a nerve transplant; after the accident he no longer felt his left arm. To this day, DR still cannot move his arm and does not know if he will be able to regain use of it. He appeared in local court on Thursday for driving a motocross bike without a driver's license, without insurance, without a helmet and at excessive speed.

“He inflicted the price of his offenses on himself,” commented the deputy prosecutor. “He is living a real nightmare. He is a survivor of life, ”admits his lawyer. “My life is no longer what it was before,” says his client, father of two children aged 2 and 8.

DR has no memory of the accident. He can only explain that he wanted to try the motorcycle before buying it, “while you don't have a driver's license? remarked the judge.

The prosecution requested fines of 135 euros for the alleged fourth class offenses as well as the obligation to follow a road sensitivity course. “You will be able to testify and bring your experience to the other people who participate in this course”, he justified; the participants being road users who did not comply with the code.

After deliberation, the court sentenced him to fines of 150 and 135 euros for the four offences. DR will also have to follow a road awareness course for the reasons given by the prosecutor.
