More left in Saint-Martin?

The absence of volunteers to hold a polling station as part of the citizen primaries raises questions about the capacity of the left to federate in Saint-Martin. Or that of his supporters to come together. For several years, it has struggled to (re) structure locally. However, the latest deadlines bear witness to a larger left electorate than that of the right. In 2012, the Saint-Martinois had preferred François Hollande to Nicolas Sarkozy (51,50% against 48,50%).

In the legislative elections of June 2012, it obtained 47,5% of the votes in the first round, one point less than the right *. His candidate, Louis Mussington, had even won more votes than in the local elections in March: he had indeed won 982 votes in June against 670 three months earlier (+ 31%).

In 2011-2012, several sympathizers including Louis Mussington had tried to bring (re) live the antenna of the Socialist Party in Saint-Martin; the objective was to create a true federation for the northern islands. But for various reasons this did not happen. Four years later, the PS is still not represented in Saint-Martin and no one wanted to organize the primaries. However, let us hope that he will agree to invest a Saint-Martin candidate in the next legislative elections in June. If candidate cheeky enough to seek support there is.
