At the request of President Daniel Gibbs, the community of Saint-Martin proceeded at the end of last week to remove the most troublesome car carcasses on the public domain. Since Hurricane IRMA, 500 end-of-life vehicles have already been removed and treated by the ELH pollution control center in Grandes Cayes.

The sustainable development center of the community will continue this collection operation in the coming weeks, in order to clean up the area of the many carcasses that litter the sidewalks and parking spaces. Insurance companies are also affected by this system, since they cover the removal of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) insured at all risks.

Around 1500 vehicles have been listed under this scheme. The ELVs collected are then stored at the Grandes Cayes ecosite to be treated there via the depollution process.

“Over the past two years, the community of Saint-Martin has carried out several campaigns for the free collection of end-of-life vehicles. In 2 years, 1200 carcasses have been removed from the public domain, ”specifies the Community. _AF
